Resume Ghyslain Bertholon
After studies in communication through image, Ghyslain Bertholon comes to the School of Fine Arts in Saint-Etienne in 1994. Four years later, he passes his DNSEP with distinction.
In 1999, he enters the "Atelier de Conception", which gathers about 15 artists, architects and designers working in public spaces thanks to proximity actions.
Till 2004, he multiplies artistic cooperation and creates or joins several artists' collectives. He achieves at the same time several public orders for perennial installations in public space. Since 2005, he writes his own "Poézie" (implementation of the artistic programme "Diachromes Synchromes et Poézies") and takes part into exhibitions and residencies in France and in foreign cities such as Bruxelles, Lausanne, Berlin, Tallinn, Riga, Nanjing...
The same year, he founds the "Laboratoire d'Art Impliqué" (association for public awareness of contemporaneous art) and works for the Higher School of Art and Design of Saint-Etienne in collaboration with the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) within the frame of the programme called Re:search.
The work of Ghyslain Bertholon is structured since 2005 around two distinct but complementary poles. The first one allows him to analyse the image and information fluxes (research programme giving birth to Diachromes and Synchromes) while the second one regroups, under the name of Poézies, all his thoughts and sensitive approach on what constitutes our social and cultural environment.
Ghyslain Bertholon is represented since 2005 by the Georges Verney-Carron gallery in Lyon, France, since 2008 by the SynopsisM gallery in Lausanne, Swiss, and since 2009 by the School gallery in Paris, France.
